APQC, the benchmarking and best practices research firm, has named eight organizations as recipients of its 2025 Excellence in Knowledge Management (KM) recognition program. The entities include:

Enterprise Category

  • Chartis
  • AD Ports Group
  • Mubadala Investment Company
  • Mercer (repeat recipient)
  • Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (PJSC)

Business Unit or Entity Category

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS Prescriptive Guidance
  • Novartis (repeat recipient)
  • Roche – Product Development (repeat recipient)

“The organizations recognized this year by APQC for Excellence in Knowledge Management have proven themselves leaders in embracing new technologies and implementing traditional KM practices. They are achieving a remarkable impact from their KM programs,” says Lynda Braksiek, APQC’s principal research lead, knowledge management. “Their work echoes the findings from our 2025 KM Priorities survey, which showed implementing AI and 'smart' technology is the top priority. At the same time, traditional KM practices such as managing an organization’s most critical knowledge and transferring and retaining expert knowledge remain important.”

Launched in 2019, the Excellence in Knowledge Management program is based on analysis from APQC’s Knowledge Management Capability Assessment Tool. It provides an evidence-based methodology to measure and evaluate KM competencies across four categories: strategy, people, process, and information technology. The best-in-class examples help organizations accelerate learning to build and sustain similar success and business impact.

“Our recipients are setting benchmarks for excellence in knowledge management, demonstrating the immense potential of how technology and process can reshape how we create and utilize organizational knowledge,” adds Cindy Hubert, fellow, knowledge management for APQC. “These organizations are driving the future of our discipline and serve as examples for us all. Their unwavering commitment to learning and continuous improvement is truly inspiring. We are proud to recognize their achievements.”
